Schindler Signs 23,000 SF Lease at The Durst Organization's 1133 Avenue of the Americas

New York, NY (September 9, 2024) – The Durst Organization today announced that Schindler Elevator Corporation has signed a lease for 23,000 square feet, taking the full 28th floor of 1133 Avenue of the Americas. A leading global manufacturer of elevators, escalators, and moving walkways, Schindler has moved the company’s corporate New York office to the desirable Bryant Park neighborhood.

“Available office space is in short supply in the Bryant Park neighborhood and The Durst Organization recently invested $350 million in the submarket, including a $40 million renovation of 1133 Avenue of the Americas. We welcome Schindler and know that their employees will enjoy all that the property and neighborhood have to offer,” said Jody Durst, President of The Durst Organization.

Anchored by strong public transit and amenities, the Bryant Park submarket continues to have low office availability. Large Class A office towers in the district have only approximately 6% vacancy, among the lowest in the city, while the upper floors (above the 28th floor) have only approximately 2% availability.

With a limestone façade and sleek modernist lines, 1133 Avenue of the Americas is a distinctive presence overlooking Bryant Park. In partnership with Skyline Robotics and Palladium Window Solutions, 1133 Avenue of the Americas is the only skyscraper in the world utilizing a robotic window cleaning system.

The 1.1 million-square-foot Class A tower is 45 stories tall, located on Avenue of the Americas between West 43rd and 44th Streets in the heart of Midtown. Durst invested $40 million in capital improvements for the enhancement of the soaring travertine lobby accented by a striking LED sculpture by Leo Villareal, destination dispatch elevator controls, new elevator cab interiors, a new heating plant, and a newly landscaped outdoor plaza. Other property features include 5,000 square feet of green roofs and exclusive landscaped terraces. 1133 is certified LEED Gold under LEED v4 Existing Buildings: Operations + Maintenance.
