New York, NY (April 16, 2024) – The beloved West Village institution Rosemary’s opens in Midtown on April 16 in The Durst Organization’s 825 Third Avenue (50th and 3rd Avenue) - with a 100-seat sun-filled dining room, 40-seat sidewalk cafe, beautiful 20-person private dining room, spacious 40-person wine bar, and a separate Pantry for grab & go convenience. Rosemary’s Midtown will be open for dinner Monday through Sunday with lunch and brunch to follow in the coming weeks.
Since opening the original West Village location in 2012, Rosemary’s has become a neighborhood destination for familial hospitality and seasonal Italian cooking that highlights locally sourced produce, hand-shaped pastas, and ingredients from their rooftop farm.
The Rosemary’s Midtown menu adds neapolitan pizzas and a new reasonably-priced, family-style dining experience, La Sagra, which showcases the best of Rosemary’s menu each season—a great option for groups or those simply looking to sit back and enjoy being truly hosted. Priced at $39, the prix fixe menu includes a selection of antipasti, a choice of pasta, and dessert. In line with Rosemary’s commitment to supporting the community, $1 from every La Sagra purchased will go to benefit God’s Love We Deliver, which cooks and home-delivers nutritious, medically tailored meals for people too sick to shop or cook for themselves.
Rosemary’s Midtown’s farm-to-table seasonal fare is in partnership with McEnroe Organic Farm in Millerton, New York, which is co-owned by The Durst Organization. Rosemary’s will work with McEnroe Farm to bring seasonal organic produce to the restaurant while also sending organic waste back to be composted at the farm.
Dekar Design has led the interiors for all three of Rosemary’s locations. Guests of Rosemary’s Midtown will recognize the use of reclaimed wood tables, handpainted tiles and antique copper pots that create the restaurant’s signature urban farmhouse ambiance.
With this new location, Suarez brings the restaurant’s hospitality to the Midtown area at an integral time, joining several recent nearby openings as the neighborhood bubbles back to life after being hard hit during the pandemic.
“We’re excited to bring the warmth of Rosemary’s to Midtown,” said Founder Carlos Suarez. “It’s our goal to add to the resurgence of Midtown with our passion for seasonal Italian cooking, familial hospitality and community engagement.”
“825 Third Avenue has been completely renovated from top to bottom as a premier Midtown office tower. We proudly welcome Rosemary’s to anchor the tower on the prime 50th Street corner, bringing the restaurant’s delicious Italian cuisine to Third Avenue for our tenants and neighbors to enjoy,” said Jody Durst, President of The Durst Organization.
Under the guidance of Corporate Executive Chef Michael Han, Rosemary’s Midtown will be led by Executive Chef Chris Caliso, who was previously Chef de Cuisine for Manzo Enoteca at Eataly Flatiron. Chef Caliso joined Rosemary’s team at the West Village location and will keep fan favorites such as Orecchiette with house-made sausage, broccoli rabe, Fresno chili, and Parmigiano on the menu while introducing new, seasonal creations such as squid ink spaghetti with rock shrimp and a sunflower-shaped ravioli with white asparagus fonduta and bottarga.
The wine program, led by Beverage Director John Drewniany, honors the restaurant’s roots with a commitment to small, sustainable, family-owned producers solely from Italian appellations. Guests will enjoy a robust by-the-glass and bottle selection that is thoughtfully curated and offers everything from affordable gems to luxurious finds. Wine and beer will lead the restaurant’s libation offerings to start, with a cocktail menu launching this summer that will highlight Italian spirits and ingredients.
Named after owner, Carlos Suarez’s mother, and inspired by her home and vegetable garden in Lucca, Italy, Rosemary’s aspires to be the quintessential neighborhood restaurant, offering everyday elegance and community engagement that endears the restaurant to a diverse audience in the communities they serve—which also includes Tokyo’s Shinjuku (2016), Manhattan’s East Side (2021), Midtown (Spring 2024), and Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood later this year.
Rosemary’s is part of the Casa Nela restaurant group, which operates a collection of classic neighborhood restaurants in Greenwich Village, including Bobo, Claudette, and the pizzeria Roey’s.
