The Durst Organization Tops Out 32-Story Construction at 20 and 30 Halletts Point in Astoria

ASTORIA, NY (October 24, 2023) – The Durst Organization and its construction manager Urban Atelier Group (UAG) topped out construction at 20 and 30 Halletts Point in Astoria, Queens. The 647-unit, mixed use buildings now rise 27 stories in one tower and 32 stories in another, over a shared cellar for parking and ground floors that will include neighborhood retail. Workers marked the milestone of pouring the final structural concrete with a ceremony on Tuesday morning. Construction is expected to be completed in 2025.

Designed by Handel Architects, 20 and 30 Halletts Point represent the second major phase of development on the peninsula’s waterfront, following the completion of 10 Halletts Point in 2019. The site will encompass a new waterfront esplanade that will unlock this section of the shoreline to the public.

“Halletts Point is one of the largest new housing developments underway in New York City. We are proud to create hundreds of new homes for New Yorkers, reconnect the community to its waterfront, create new public spaces, and bring in new neighborhood retail and services,” said **Jody Durst, President of The Durst Organization.**

"The transformation of the Halletts Peninsula into a thriving community with abundant history and proximity to culture, open space, and recreation is a feat we couldn't be more proud of," said **Andy D'Amico, President and CEO of UAG.** "Our collaboration on Halletts Point Buildings 20 & 30 with The Durst Organization and the design team will provide much-needed housing and amenities to the budding waterfront community."

During construction, The Durst Organization partnered with ArtBridge to install a 600-foot mural along the site’s construction fencing. The public art exhibition and augmented reality (AR) experience, titled *A City in Motion*, was created by Astoria-based artist Zeehan Wazed and inspired by the artist’s work with NYCHA’s Astoria Houses.

Halletts Point is a mixed-use, mixed-income development that will eventually deliver 2,000 residential rental units. In addition to 10 Halletts Point, The Durst Organization recently opened 3-24 27th Avenue in Astoria, a fully affordable development with 163 homes and amenities. Positioned next to NYCHA’s Astoria Houses, the new building was developed through a wider partnership between the Halletts Point development and public housing community. The Durst Organization made considerable investments to improve NYCHA’s Astoria Houses, including upgrades to the heating plant and public spaces.

The Halletts Point development has brought the first full-service supermarket on the peninsula that provides fresh and healthy food at affordable prices, bringing access to what was historically a food desert. Future work will include connecting the waterfront esplanade that borders the Astoria Houses to new recreational space along the water, creating a seamless and walkable connection between the Astoria Houses and Whitey Ford Field.
