The Durst Organization today announced the promotion of Michael Rhee to Vice President and General Counsel. Mr. Rhee joined The Durst Organization in 2012 and has overseen the closings of numerous acquisitions including the 2,200 unit Halletts Point Development in Astoria and the 1 million square foot Queens Plaza Park in Long Island City. In the last year, Mr. Rhee oversaw 1 million square feet of transactions in The Durst Commercial portfolio which included leases signed by SS&C at 4 Times for 135,000 Square and RSM for 95,000 Square feet as well as Take-Two Interactive Software for 61,383 square feet at 1133 Avenue of the Americas. In addition to the legal aspects of the company’s transactions, Mr. Rhee provides legal support to the entire organization; its 13 million square feet of commercial property, 1,950 residential units and 1,200 employees.

Mr. Rhee was previously with Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP before joining The Durst Organization in 2012 as Vice President and Corporate Counsel. Mr. Rhee earned his Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University School of Law, where he was an editor for the St. John’s Law Review, and a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University.
